2007 Texas Roundup Wrapup
The 2007 Texas Roundup,
held March 17 in Maypearl, attracted 53 college coaches and
a sell out crowd of over 600 people. The girls and boys
games were both outstanding as each were decided in the
final seconds of play. The girl’s team featured a
tremendous second half comeback as the White Team rallied
from a 62-47 halftime deficit to tie the game with seconds
remaining and overtake the Red Team for a 92-89 victory at
the buzzer. The boy’s game was tight from wire to wire
with the Red Team pulling away in the final seconds, 86-80.
Top scorers for the
winning White team were Mia Brooks of Shepard with 22 and
Beth Hampton of FW Nolan with 14. For the Red Team, Mallory
Moeller of Geronimo Navarro scored 22 while Jasmine Hughey
of Kaufman put up 16. The boys were led by Dustin Schulte
of Nazareth with 15 and James Valladares of Kaufman with 11
for the Red team while the White team scoring titles went to
Justin Berry of Lytle and Jeremy Moore of Rivercrest with 10
apiece.
The 3 point shoot out
title went to Andrea Johnson of Hughes Springs who scored 16
points for the White team. Top producer for the Red team
was Kayla Emmons of Grandview with 11. The boy’s shoot out
was won by Frankie Robinson of Buffalo with 20 points for
the Red Team while VonShae Wesley of Hughes Springs totaled
13.
The Texas Roundup
(formerly the Zebra Roundup) continues to be THE event for
colleges seeking to boost their rosters with outstanding
players for the coming season.
Almost every coach in
attendance indicated the Roundup stands alone as the premier
talent event of every recruiting season.
